Why should I use a pool service?

It takes time and knowledge to maintain your pool on a regular schedule. We are experts in pool maintenance and repair. Let The POOL Man do the work; we take the time each week to inspect the pool and equipment. We carry a variety of parts on our trucks and can make small repairs as needed, preventing any down time and equipment damage. In addition, we take care of all the chemicals so that you don’t have to haul home gallons of acid and chlorine and then find a place to store them safely when not in use. We are experts, because we maintain pools for a living. Knowing what it takes to obtain the proper water chemistry is what we do daily. We know what to do if we spot an algae bloom. As with most things, consistency is critically important and that is why we come on the same day every week. We notice changes in the water balance and adjust accordingly.

My swimming pool is clear and looks clean, why do I need to test the water?

The water chemistry must be kept in balance and should be continuously disinfected. Chlorine is a type of disinfectant, also called a sanitizer. There are several types of disinfectants, such as chlorine, bromine and salt chlorination. In addition, if the water chemistry is not kept in balance, it can cause serious damage to the pool’s finish and equipment, resulting in costly repairs. How long should I run the swimming pool filter?

It is essential that your swimming pool have the proper filtration and circulation, especially in hot weather; otherwise, your pool may turn into a swamp. Depending on the size of your pump, a good rule of thumb is 8-10 hours a day in the summer and 4-6 hours a day in the winter.

How long after adding shock to the pool, can we swim?

As a general rule, wait 6-8 hours, or when the chlorine level drops below 3ppm.

How often does my pool filter need to be cleaned?

Most manufactures recommend a complete filter & teardown a minimum of twice per year, but it depends upon the size of your pool and filter, the type of filter you have, and the swimmer and contaminant load.

Do I still need to empty my baskets if I have a pool service?

Absolutely! It is highly recommended that you empty the skimmer and pump baskets. If the baskets are overflowing with leaves or tree & flower blossoms, it will impair the water circulation and your pump will run dry.

When should I open my pool?

You should open your pool when the temperature is 65o. This is the best way to prevent your pool from turning green or black. In most cases, the cost of running the pool is a lot less than the cost of the chemicals needed to clear a green or back pool.
